Message from the Director of the UVJC Hebrew School
Shanhan Tovah from the Hebrew School
School Resumes on Sunday September 9 2012
10:00 AM- Noon
My name is Maggie Duford, and I am the Director of Education at the UVJC Hebrew School.
This is my second year at the Upper Valley Jewish Community at the Director of Education. I accepted this position after having lived in Tzfat, Israel for 2 years. What I learned most from my life in Israel, and through observation of the many lines which separate our traditions, is that at the heart of each of us, we are all part of the Jewish family. Whether we observe every law to the letter, or whether we revise ancient tradition into a modern breathing society, it is our choice to do so. Yet at the core, prayer is prayer, regardless of the hour chosen to recite it by rote or speak it directly from the heart. We are one people, just as there is one G-d.
You, as a parent, are the first teachers and as we at the Hebrew school partner with you, we encourage your feedback, and to express you desires, needs, and concerns, as they are all of great importance to us.
This school belongs to our children. Without them, it simply does not exist. They will feel ownership with active participation in events we sponsor outside of school-time. For this reason, you will see many activities surrounding holidays that are made for families to participate, not just the children. We hope you find them enriching and furthering the goals we have stated for this children’s' school.

The UVJC Hebrew School is located at the Roth Center on the Dartmouth Campus in Hanover, New Hampshire. We are fully committed to a curriculum which embraces our traditions and heritage.
Pre-Kindergarten through 7th grade meets every Sunday from 10:00 am- Noon. It is on Sundays that the curriculum is rich with study of both Hebrew and Judaic studies. Third grade though Seventh grade gather again on Tuesday afternoons from 4PM-5:30.
Because our working philosophy is " Yesh Makom Lchol Ehad Po" there is room for everyone here, it is important to us that the needs of every child are met with respect to their individual learning styles.
We are honored as we realize that your child's first formal exposure to building a Jewish identity, may form under our tutelage and we treat this with the utmost respect.
