UNLOCKING THE TALMUD: AN EVENING OF STUDY AND DISCUSSION
It is a great pleasure to announce that Rabbi Nesanel Kasnett, Dartmouth Class of 1967 and one of the editors of the Artscroll Schottenstein Talmud, will visit the Roth Center on Wednesday, July 23 to lead a discussion and learning session on how to study Talmud. It will begin at 7:00 p.m., and is organized jointly by Prof. Susannah Heschel, the UVJC, and Dartmouth Hillel.
Rabbi Kasnett, a graduate of Cardozo Law School, is now a senior editor and author at Mesorah Publications. He is the author of two books in English on Genesis, including the collection of essays, "Ancient Mountains, Timeless Hills," and of one book in Hebrew on Cain and Abel. This is a rare opportunity, and we hope you can come.

THE FUTURE OF ISRAEL: A CONVERSATION WITH BERNARD AVISHAI
We are delighted to tell you that Bernard Avishai, the author of the recently published book, The Hebrew Republic: How Secular Democracy and Global Enterprise Will Bring Israel Peace at Last, will talk about his book and his vision of Israel's future at the Roth Center on Tuesday, July 29 at 7:00 p.m.
Avishai, who splits his time between Jerusalem and Wilmot, NH, is a contributing editor to the Harvard Business Review, former professor at Duke and MIT, longtime contributor to the New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, Harper's and many other publications, and a seminal thinker on Israeli politics and society. In reviewing The Hebrew Republic, the New York Times recently wrote, "In this wise, humane and important book, Avishai is taking on the role of a Herzl for the modern age." This promises to be an extraordinary and thought-provoking evening.

WHAT IS A FUNDRAISE & SOCIALIZE EVENT?
A member needs four things: the idea to host an event; a date; a location; and a suggested cost per person to attend. The UVJC will help promote the event. EMAIL US YOUR IDEAS!
