The Upper Valley Jewish Community is committed to providing educational opportunities for both young people and adults. We offer a Hebrew school that meets twice weekly and which includes ongoing educational opportunities for post-b’nai mitzvah students. There are many opportunities for adult learning as well; in particular, be sure to explore Psalms and Torah study with our rabbi as well as presentations and lectures on a variety of topics. Many events are held in-person at the Roth Center, with a hybrid option. The Koreman Library, located within the Roth Center for Jewish Life, is shared with the Dartmouth Hillel and has a wealth of Jewish books available for members to check out or for anyone to read at their leisure. The topics range from Jewish folktales and humor to history and politics to prayer and liturgy. The library is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon working or studying. In addition, there is a delightful children’s library located in the basement hallway of the Roth Center, which contains many educational materials as well as funny and charming stories for families to share.
Those wishing to learn more about Judaism are strongly encouraged to reach out to the congregation and to our rabbi. In the past, we have offered introductory courses on Judaism, we have worked with adults on their Hebrew, and we have helped adults learn to lead Shabbat services. The precise nature of what we offer is dependent on congregational interest and the ability of congregants to volunteer their time.
