Cross-Racial Poetry
Professor Ivy T. Schweitzer
11:30 am – Noon (Lunch)
Noon – 1 pm (Learn)
Ivy Schweitzer, a retired Professor of English at Dartmouth, will read from and discuss her debut book of poems, Dividing Rivers. It is a memoir in verse of her growing up as a nerdy Jewish girl from Brooklyn, wrestling with her family’s and community’s attitudes about gender, race, and identity.
She will also present materials from her new manuscript of poems, a rewriting of the Book of Genesis from Eve’s perspective, and discuss timely issues of brokenness, humility, self-forgiveness, and repair.
